A special kind of courage

An army soldier is praised after defending his post in Afghanistan while in pink boxers and flip flops. As he was sleeping, Zachary Boyd's unit post under went fire. Boyd geared himself with a helmet and body armor, but felt that upper protection was enough and quickly rendevouzed with the soldiers under fire. U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates praises such an act and deems it "A special kind of courage". However, I do think the defesnse secretary overpraised the situation when he said, "What an incredible innovation in psychological warfare". I don't think the act was innovative. I will agree it was brave. Since he was taking cover and his whole lower body was never exposed, I am assuming Boyd knew that fact and felt that coming to aid was more valuable than defend parts that were always going to be in cover. Boyd was nervous ecause he though his "out of uniform" act would cost him his job, but he was reassured that his job was secure. Atta boy Lad.
