And the third Furlough Gets Added to the List

So It was made official today that state employees will be taking a mandatory third furlough day. It's hard seeing the logic to this so If someone can explain to me how this is supposded to save the state money then please tell me. Anyways, the Elevator Unit (which I work for), makes alot of money for the state daily. I'm not completely ready and today I was able to make $400 for the state before lunch. Typically, an elevator inspector can make $1000 dollars for the state PER DAY. Theres roughly 70 inspectors for the state so that means thatt the state makes $70,000 a day just from the elevator unit. Taking away 3 days out of the month means that the state is losing out on $210,000 A MONTH. I know what u are thinking, "What about the money the state pays you?" You can look at it 2 ways. The first way is simple... Do you really think the state pays the inspectors more than $1000 a day? No my friend, inspectors make about $200-$350 a day. So taking the upper range, the state would be paying $73,500 a month for the three days they took away. But that just means that the state could have been making $136,500 after paying us. Still alot for three days right?

The Mo'Rockin Project

So Yesterday at the Oakland City Center Mo' Rockin gave a very excellent performance. Their music had many different blends which makes theme a very unique band. People were really getting into the music. I know I was. They already have 2 CDs out that I intend to definately buy. Thier next peroformance is August 12th I think in SF. I will definately be attending. In The Second video the guy on the piano goes nuts.... so does the guy next to him. And in the Last video the guy on the drums has a sick ass Solo. Alot of the times when I was trying to get close up to the band, people always seem to stand front of me. Especially the bald guy in orange, he gets in my way every week. Sometimes its annoying.

Happy July

I know I haven't posted anything in a while, but here it goes. Six Posts on the first day of july. I had a crazy ass june, and i'm only getting started. I only posted like 6 things in june so for the three of you who regularly follow my blog, I am sorry. So enjoy these Six new posts, and stay tuned for more

Coming Up, Growing Up

After a month of working at my new Job I have decided that it is time for me to move. It feels liberating. I know I have moved before and have lived on my own before, but it's different because I don't have a comfort zone anymore. This is the no turning back point. This is the point that I like because it feels sureal. Imma start moving my stuff this weekend and hopefulyy can get settled in by next week. Stay tuned for information regarding the housewarming party

Michael Jackson - R.I.P.

Tomorrow marks one week since Michael Jacksons' death. I know I am late in posting this but I don't care, I've been busy this week with a whole bunch of shit. I actually was at the airport when he was announced dead. A whole bunch of people were gathereed around the TV watching in shock and awe at what was happening. Alot of people who were interviewed in the following weekend all pretty much said the same thing, "Michael Jackson was such an icon that his music has been a part of everyone's life in some way and we have all been affected by it." Also, "Make a CD with music that has been reflected in your life and I am sure that everyone in the world will at least have one song of Michael Jackson." I completely agree. In fact I remember paying over $200 just to listen to Billie Jean because it was stuck in my head. One day me and my brother were in the house hanging out when I told them that I really wanted to listen to the song. He told me that it is a shame that we didn't (at the time) have a PS2 with Grand Theft Auto (GTA) Vice City since the games' soundtrack has that song in it. After a few seconds of thinking I said "Drive me to the store, I'm buying a PS2 and GTA Vice City." As soon as we got home we surely kept playing until the song played. Just an example how I have been affected by his music. Feel free to leave a comment about a story you have like that. Below I am putting some Jackson 5 music that I like that I felt they should have played more (alot more) on the radio and tv.

Welcome to the KCBS Eyewitness Blues Team

And to finally catch myself up on the band performances, I introduce to you the KCBS Eyewitness Blues Band. These guys were so great that I actually went to the radio shack nearby and purchased a new memory card so I can get their whole performance. I had a good time at this bands performance. They were really interactive with the audience and had everyone either laughing or dancing the whole time. One of the band members (Mike Sugarman I believe) actually told me that since they aren't very talented with music they make up for it with humor and audience involvement. Altohugh his statement (and the way he said it) was hilarious, I disagree with it because I actually think they are very talented musicians. And if you didn't catch it, Their name is a play from KCBS Eyewitness News. These people are on local stations giving people the news. So they are double threats.

Sweet Water Tastes Better With Some Soul In It

Next on the Performance List is Femi and The Sweet Water Soul Band. And yes, the type of music they play is SOUL. They Performed at the Oakland City Center on June 17th. At first they were playing some really mellow music and as the hour passed, they eased into more upbeat music that got people on their feet and start dancing. A boy and his grandfather (or father) really got into it and were pulling some really good dance moves. Unfortunately I didn't have enough sapace on my memory card to get everything that I wanted, and so what I got was them dancing near the end while they were tired, even still their dancing at that state was still really good but the moves they were pulling off before that were even better. Femi is the lead singer and the rest are known as the sweet water soul band. They actually have a CD released called Sweet Water Soul, you can buy them on itunes also.

Check out Femi at www.myspace.com/femi

Orquesta Sensual Gets The Party Started

A little late on the posts but lets see how many I can do....
So early last month (June 10th), Orquesta Sensual perofrmed at the Oakland City Center (area near my job). The people were so into the music that they danced throughout their whole lunch break, and some people were even sweating in their professional clothing. I do believe it would have been well worth it. Below are videos of mostly people dancing, I should have recorded more of the band but for this time, the audience was the performing aspect of the show.

Hater Alert

About 2 weeks ago, I was exiting the BART parking lot and I saw this guy with an Obama bumper sticker that read, “Not Hope, Just a Dope”. I thought it was pretty lame to publicly insult a president who just started their term. We haven’t even seen the effects of Obama’s leadership and he is already criticizing him. Of course he didn’t have any Bush stickers that showed how much he sucked. Of course you can already guess why he had an anti Obama bumper sticker and not an anti Bush sticker. Today I saw the same car on the way to the parking lot so I seized the opportunity (don’t worry, I was at a red light). I actually think what’s even more lame is that a company is out there making anti Obama bumper sticker. It is rather unfair to insult a president that started out his term during 2 wars and one of the worst recessions in history. I didn’t see a single anti Bush sticker during his 8 years in office. But I guess I just wasn’t looking hard enough though right?

A Great View

So last week at work we were in San Francisco checking out some units when it was time to take a break. My trainer decided that we should go to the view at twin peaks for one of my fellow co-workers who was going to be working in so-cal this week. The last time I went there, I was a little kid. It was refreshing to see the great vast view of SF. It definitely was great.

Assassin's Creed 2

So the trailer is out for Assassin's creed 2 is out. I enjoyed the story of the first game and can't wait to see what unwravles next. For those who don't remember, Assassin's Creed 1 was about an organization of modern templars masked as a mega corporation that conrolled alot of the worlds resources and discoveries. They kidnapped a man whose ancestors were assassins and enemies to the templars. They used a machine on him that allowed them to view the memories of one specific assassin. With that machine they were able to locate a powerful magical artifact that had been thought to be lost. The artifact can cast illusions and make people into slaves. They intend to use that artifact to control the world. The game ended with A strike against the modern templars by modern assassins who were trying to get back the kidnapped man. The kidnapped man was left alone in a locked suite type laboratory where he has a vision and can see paintings left on the wall by previous test subjects. I can't wait to see how they pick up after this....

Pure-Ecstasy delivers a state of Euphoria

So the other day at work my co-worker returns from lunch and urges me to take my lunch and check out a band that is performing at the nearby plaza from our bulding. I then take my lunch and head over to see the band he was talking about. The name of the band is Pure-Ecstasy and they are definately bomb. They play both old-school and current hits. They have a jazzy touch to their music which makes it hard to not tap your feet to. The woman in the band has a very good voice. I am hitting up their next performance in burlingame. Below are videos and pics. (FYI: I am not a cmaeraman and I had a cup of jamba juice in one hand so I was operating the camera with only one hand). Oh yeah, and if you want to silence my music to listen to the videos just scroll down until u see a ninja to the right, there should be a puase button on his stomach.

FUCK MY LIFE, FUCK YOUR LIFE, JUST FUCK IT

So my friend introduced me to http://www.fmylife.com/ . A website dedicated to stories that happened to people that just completely suck balls. I will admit that you will run into a lot of lame ass stroies that are not even funny. But this site is fucking Hilarious. I definately urge you to check it out, I'm about to start posting there myself.

Yet Another Bailout

This time it's for GM/Chrysler. Now, I'm no econ major so my feeliongs towards bailing out privately owned companies could be wrong. It just so happens that I can't make any sense of it. The economy is in such a shit hole that no one can afford anything because of losing their jobs or taking a huge paycut. In return, the government is becoming more in debt. The bankrupted car companies asked for a bailout and received it. They went bankrupt because thewy were spending money in producing their cars. Unfortunately, no one was buying their cars so they lost out and became bankrupt. They then got the money to bail them out. This loan puts the government even more in debt. But if the car companies get more cars they are going to upgrade their assembly plants and produce better cars or whatever. That doesn't mean that people are going to magically have more money to buy the cars that are produced. So how are these car companies going to profit from the bail out? How is anyone going to profit from the bail out? I just don't see what all these car companies are doing that are different. Oh well, here's to making another genius decision.

My Eagle Eye was way off today

So for work I like commuting on the BART, it saves me money and I don't waste mileage. Last week I saw my pops on the same damn train I was on. He was in a different car, but my eagle eye was able to detect his ass. He didn't see me so when we got to our destination I just stayed back and made sure he stayed in front of me. Today however, my eagle eye completely failed me. I'm usually keen on being aware of my surroundings wherever I am. I am able to pick up alot of details in a very short amount of time. So you can Imagine my dissapointment when I didn't even notice that my dad was in the same car as I was for 20 minutes (about half the trip). Not only was his seat facing the area I was at, but I also was standing up for about 10 minutes of the trip. For those 10 minutes I was completely exposed. I was seated by the time I noticed his presence. When I noticed him I wasn't sure if he had noticed me. To make sure that he didn't see me though, I hid behind the guy in front of me. I kept wondering if I he had seen me but I could never come to a conclusion. But it was clear that he did when he got up to sit in the seat next to him to get a better angle on me. So from that point I had to put together a plan to avoid him. For some time I kept avoiding eye contact and looking up all together. Then I finally saw my oppertunity to make my move. When the train stopped at one of the stations, the girl next to me got up to get off and stood by the door, alot of other people also got up and stood by the door. So I did what he has done to me and my bro many times, left while he wasn't looking. After that it was just a matter of staying behind him and making sure he didn't see me, which he didn't. I was able to escape yet another close call, damn my eagle eye....

EPIC Failure

As the days pass by, the people at epic continue to do stupid tings. Today concludes their "kind of" old school weekend. Their intentions was that this weekend was like gears 1. It went back to four on four, smoke grenades don't land you on the ground, and that's about it. It's kind of old school because the new weapons are still available, grenades can still be planted, and the shotgun does not have the same spread as it did in the first one. Also, alot of people don't even play on or have the flashback map pack. So we would be playing old school on the new maps, which are specifically designed for 5 on 5. I say the only type of weekends we should have is the ever so popular double XP weekend. If they want to create other weekends I suggest they focus more of their time on other issues that continue piling up with gears 2 (more crack down on glitchers, correction of lag games, possible mod detection?, etc.). Check out http://wearebadcompany.proboards.com for more GoW2 info and other Xbox 360 games.

Achievement Hunting

So it has almost been a year since I started hunting for achievements and It has been pretty rough. With new games coming out like crazy its hard to get 100% achievements. But I have reached 95% of my total gamerscore available. There are only 7 games that I need to fully finish in order to get the rest of the achievements:

1. Resident Evil 5
2. Brain Challenge
3. GTA 4
4. Street Fighter 4
5. Perfect Dark Zer0
6. Geometry Wars Evolved
7. Mutant Storm Reloaded

Within the next two weeks I intend to have 1-3 done with. Hopefully I can have 4 done with in that time frame as well. But we will see.

A special kind of courage

An army soldier is praised after defending his post in Afghanistan while in pink boxers and flip flops. As he was sleeping, Zachary Boyd's unit post under went fire. Boyd geared himself with a helmet and body armor, but felt that upper protection was enough and quickly rendevouzed with the soldiers under fire. U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates praises such an act and deems it "A special kind of courage". However, I do think the defesnse secretary overpraised the situation when he said, "What an incredible innovation in psychological warfare". I don't think the act was innovative. I will agree it was brave. Since he was taking cover and his whole lower body was never exposed, I am assuming Boyd knew that fact and felt that coming to aid was more valuable than defend parts that were always going to be in cover. Boyd was nervous ecause he though his "out of uniform" act would cost him his job, but he was reassured that his job was secure. Atta boy Lad.

The Super Rich Friends

So the other day there was a meeting of the super rich. Big names like Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, and Ted Turner, among others, were in attendance. One of the requirements to be a part of the meeting was 1 million dollars. The reason why they met was to talk about charity, education, emergency relief, and global health. The reason why the meeting took place was because of need. Alot of charitable organizations are hurting, so we want these billionares organizing for such a purpose. A big topic of the meeting was the discussion of what really works and what doesn't work. Since all these billionares have different insights on different causes, resources can be better concentrated. Let's hope this all works out well in the end...

10-Year-Old With Breast Cancer

Wow, so on one of the home websites, I saw an article about a girl who has breast cancer, AND SHE'S ONLY IN THE FIFTH GRADE. Hella crazy. It all started when she complained to her mom about a discomfort in her left breast. Her mom felt a lump and took her to the hospital. AT first, the dr. had said that it waas not cancerous, but a better look would say otherwise. According to the article, 0.1% of breast cancer patients are children. So this child is a very rare circumstance. The doctors think she'll be able to beat it. Let's hope so.

It began with online classes, then online colleges, now we have achieved online HIGH SCHOOL

So last night I was watching some tv and a commercial aired for an online high school named insight. When I first saw the commercial I was confused because it didn't register in my head that an online High school was even possible. Finally after 2 minutes of confusion my mind accepted the idea. So I did a little research on it and it actually doesn't seem too bad. My reasoning for this is because I've always been able to teach myself school material and I always thought that ALOT of my school teachers were really bad at teaching. I'm pretty sure I could have done my last two years of high school online. It really does depend though on the person. And if you love to socialize you wouldn't be able to. They have tuition free programs but only for 10 states. The rest of the 40 states will have to pay tuition at their private online high school, Olympus. Alot of pros and cons with online high school, I'm really interested in seeing how this all turns out. The main idea for insight (according to them) is to have students work for their High School Diplomas at their own pace, according to how they want to. I think that MOST high school students are not responsible enough to make tohe right decisions in regards of what classes to take and how many classes at a time they should be taking. The funny thing is, im pretty sure onlline high schooling has been around for a while (definately more than 1 year). Last night was the first time I heard of it. We will see how well this turns out...

The first day isn't necessarily always the hardest

So yesterday I started my new job out in Oakland. I was early by about 40 min. The day started off with some field work followed up by a ton of paper work. The scenary was nice and I love the fact that the bart station is so close to the office. I got first pick of the available desks and I decided to go with the one with the view. It's a nice view and when I need that little break every now and then I can just gaze out the window. I wasn't even tired by the end of the day, but when I got home the 9-hour day finally kicked in and I began napping insanely. I woke up at around 1230 and had nothing to do and couldn't go to sleep. I really need to get used to having an 8-5 job again. I've done it once, I can do it again. But after almost a year of not really doing anything, it ain't going to be easy.

Today is the last day

So today is officially my last day as a tutor. It's been 5 and a half months since I was hired as a tutor. Talk about a long temporary position. During these 5 and a half months I have tutored about 14 students at 3 different libraries. The office was so far away that sometimes I felt as if I was a freelance tutor. I would be my own supervisor and kept track of my own hours. Tutors closer to the office had supervisors that would type up progress reports for each student. Since I was on my own most of the time I had to write these up myselfs as well as administer diagnostic tests. I do think that this was a good learning experience as I know now what is expected of me when I am left on my own. I think I had a good run. Now it's time for me to move on, and starting on friday I will begin my new job. So to my soon to be former co-workers, I say farewell.

O'brien's

So last night we went to O'briens, a sports bar and lounge in hayward. And every monday they have a comedy night. We went under the impression that everything would be free, but we were wrong. It's ok though, Frank had our backs, thanks by the way man. The host of the evening was pretty cool, he's the guy that gets the crowd all warmed up for the nights' acts. His problem was that he focused too much on the latinos and on the people he knew at the bar. He was talking about to spread the word around and try to get more new people to come. I thought that would be rather hard since most of his jokes were inside jokes with the regulars. The first guy that came on was the funnier one. He had prepared material and still put certain people on blast. I'm not going to repeat any of his jkokes cuz delivery through a blog is just lame. The second guy had the bigger rep but wasn't as funny as the first guy. The second guy, speedy, is known for his work with Jamie Foxx. I had never heard of him until last night. He was funny though, he has very good delivery. His only problem is that he doesn't have much material. His whole routine was mostly just putting three guys in the audience on blast. One of the dudes was put on blast because he was wearing a "Powder Blue" Members Only jacket. Another dude was put on blast because he was wearing a sweater even though it was spring. His sweater was like also a jacket so he was named "Swacket" for the night. The third dude was put on blast the most. It was his fault though because he just kept shouting some weird ass nonsense. Speedy was talking about cars and dude just blurted out DODGE DART!!!!. After 10 minutes of bashing on him for that Speedy moves on to the topic of being single and how he has been looking for a lady. Dude then yells out YOU NEED A OOLA GOOLA. I swear, dude kept setting himself up. His stupidity was enough to keep the show going. It's a shame they didn't clown on his appearance since he loked like flava flav. Those three dudes ended up being about 85% of Speedy's material for the night. It was funny, and delivered funny, but I like a variety of material. Overall it was a good night. Would I go back? Yes

Shhhhhh

So I'm tutoring today at the library and some kids at the table next to me are too loud for comfort. This annoyance goes on for about 10 minutes and I finally snap when one of the girls yells out loud. I then throw a Shhhh at them. I'm not the only one bothered as there are parents and other tutors looking at them with angry eyes. They decide to continue being rude and just continue being loud. By this time you can tell they are being loud on purpose so I throw another Shhhhh. Then the loudest girl has the gall to mutter, "I hate it when people shush at me." I respind with, "I hate it when people are loud at a library." She seemed surprised because she didn't think I had heard what she said. Unfortunately, they continue being loud and I attempt a third time to silence them with a "Can you be quiet? You are being unecessarily loud." This time they just ignore me. Then I see some guy at a computer and he tells a librarian "Those two just keep going at it and they are really loud." I was dissapointed at that guy. Not only was this guy so lazy that he had to wait for a librarian to pass him up, but he actually complained about the person who was trying to get the nuisances of the library to be quiet. Also, he was only looking at craigslist. To avoid being a nuisance myself, I gave up on trying to silence those kids. A little bit after a parent lashed out at the kids urging them to keep it down. The dude at the computer just looked over and didn't say anything, he could have least said something to the kids, he could have manned up. Needless to say, he didn't. The kids would not shut up though, eventually a librarian finally kicked them out. Even then they didn't go quietly. So to the kids, I'm sorry that I interrupted your conversation that could have been taken outside. I should have told my student to do better at school as to not be in this perdictament. And to the fat lazy guy at the comp, I'm sorry I interrupted your craigslist search, if only I didn't care about my students' progress so much, we wouldn't have had a problem. So the two of you can take the bird and your douche cards.

Happy Mothers Day

So yesterday was mothers day and it was pretty nice. My bro, mom, and grandma took family pics together for the first time in my life. Needless to say my mom was very happy since she had been wanting to for a long time. After the pics we all went out to eat a chinese buffet. After the 1st round of food I noticed my bro grabbing some of the same items he had just eaten. I told him "Hey man you should get new items instead of the same things you just ate." His response was "That's what I'm going to do, I'm just grabbing this food so I can eat it as I'm picking what foods to eat next." Talk about a grade A fatty. At the end of the day I went my friends to go watch star trek. For not ever watching anything from star trek and for not knowing any history of star trek, It was really an enjoyable movie. Good solid story, very nice visuals, good cast. I'm giving it 4.5 out of 5 sneaks. By the way, have you noticed my music? Have any requests? Let me know if there are certain songs that you want to hear and I'll put it on my request playlist....

Gaymen the Skeeter Hunter

So yesterday was the first communion of my friends' niece. Afterwards there was a family party at her house which I attended. Plenty of food and people and beer. I had a good time. Unfortunately, my friend lives near some water so there are alot of bugs in the area. The bug that draws the biggest concern is those damn mosquitos. By the end of the night there were alot of mosquitos in the house. And thats when my friends' sister turned into GAYMEN: THE SKEETER HUNTER. She went so beserk, she grabbed the fly swatter and was running around the house just raining merciless on all of the mosquitos. By the end of the hour, the mosquitos had all been vanquished.

Another Epic Disappointment

On July 28, the “geniuses” at epic will be releasing the All Fronts Collection. This collection is a compilation of all DLC maps (flashback, combustible, and snowblind) plus a “deleted” campaign mission where Marcus and Dom can go stealthy into the locust stronghold instead of guns blazing as they did in the campaign we played. This new campaign mission is known as “Road to Ruin”. Along with these two things there will also be 7 brand-new maps. The new campaign story and the new maps are known as Gears of War 2: Dark Corners. Also included in this collection package will be an introduction to the “Road to Ruin”, a custom Xbox Live theme, a Gears of War 2 poster, and a strategy guide. Epic stated that this whole complete package has a value of over 3,600 Microsoft points ($45). However, it will be sold at retailers for just $19.99. What a great deal right? Especially since the combustible map pack and the snowblind map pack are worth 800 Microsoft points ($10) each. Together that’s $20, the same price of the whole package. But what if you already have the three DLC map packs? Well the Gears of War 2: Dark Corners content can be purchased and downloaded from the marketplace for 1,600 Microsoft points ($20), the same price of the whole package. So Epic has decided to screw over all of its loyal fans that have been purchasing everything they have released by re-releasing everything and putting it together with new stuff for the same price as all the stuff that was already released. The All Fronts collection is ideal for 1) Someone who has purchased a used copy of Gears of War 2 AND 2) Someone who does not have any of the DLC maps. Seeing how the flashback map pack is only included in the new copies of the game, the people who have bought a used copy and downloaded the three 3 map packs, are the ones getting the most screwed since they have already paid over $30 (I do not know how much the flashback maps are) and if they want the Dark Corners, they will need to pay another $20. That’s over $50 dollars of just DLC for a game. Put that in with the $55 dollars they spent for the used game and that totals out to more than $105. TALK ABOUT S-C-R-E-W-E-D. As for me, I bought a new copy (flashback came included with new copies) for $60. I purchased the combustible and snowblind map packs for a total of 1,600 Microsoft points ($20). If I want Dark Corners, that would be another $20. That totals out to $100. The people who the collection is most ideal for will be paying $20 for the all fronts collection and a maximum amount of $55 for the used copy. Totaling out to $75 or less. Epic should really think about releasing pre-paid cards for those of us who have been loyal since Day One. But knowing how Epic is, I doubt we will be acknowledged or repaid. I guess there's only one thing I can do now, Walk Slowly......

Gamer Pic: Origins

So the mystery has been solved. Thanks to bob, the origin of my gamer pic has been revealed. Apparently when you are browsing through your friends list at xbox.com, if you hover your cursor over the gamer pic of one of your friends, it tells you what game its from. The gamer pic came from the arcade game: “Roboblitz”. I’ve never played the game myself so I wouldn’t know anything about which character it is. But now since my gamer pic isn’t a mystery anymore, I think it’s time for a new one. I’d like to take this time to give a shoutout to BAD COMPANY. They’re the most merciless badasses you’ll ever meet.

Reunited and it feels ok

So yesterday morning I dropped off my car to the dealership so they can investigate the check engine light. Diagnostics run at about $150. None of that goes into parts or labor. They called me this morning (waking me up) and told me that they figured out what they need to do but they need a part. That part won't be coming in until Monday. Once they get the part they'll call me to schedule an appointment to get the work done on it. The good news, I don't have to pay a single cent. I LOVE WARRANTIES
